On May 25th, 2018, the 8th International Art Festival of Soong Ching Ling School was successfully held at the Shanghai Grand Theatre. More than 700 students from 20 countries and areas joined this multicultural performance.
This year, we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the China Welfare Institute (CWI), which was founded by Mme. Soong Ching Ling in 1938. It’s also the 10th anniversary of Shanghai Soong Ching Ling School. All students and teachers took the annual Art Festival as an opportunity to express our respect to Mme. Soong Ching Ling, as well as our best wishes and gratitude to CWI.
“Honor the Past and Embrace the Future” is the theme of this year’s Art Festival. We learned a lot from traditional Chinese culture and classical arts as well as the fusion between eastern and western cultures. These have all powered us with creative ideas and energy to step into the future.
Mme. Soong Ching Ling said that good education is rooted in the soil of the best cultures of our nation and the world. The SCLS Art Festival includes all sorts of performances with multicultural style and content. The stage of the SCLS Art Festival has become a platform where China meets the world, east meets west, and history meets the future.
President Xi said that a nation with hope cannot be without heroes, a country with a future cannot be without pioneers. On the stage, SCLS students carried out a performance of “Five Heroes at Langya Mountain”. Through poetry recital and performance, our students showed high respect for our national heroes, expressed great pride in our country, and demonstrated their desire for world peace. To make the world a better and more peaceful place is the responsibility and mission of every SCLS member.
The Art Festival belongs to every child.
The Art Festival helps every child shine.
The Art Festival is filled with love.
The Art Festival will create warm memories for all.
Sincere thanks to all the artists who made the beautiful moments come true. And thanks also to all SCLS staff for their best efforts on and behind the stage.
