What is School Spirit? What does it do? Who is it for? And why did our students look so silly a few weeks ago?
Those are all great questions. School Spirit, quite simply, is feeling positively about your school. Feeling that you belong, that you are loved, and that you are part of a strong group of thinkers and positive role models. It is important for schools to build school spirit because, the more the student enjoys coming to school, the more productive their day will be. Spirit week is a tradition at many schools where school spirit is increased through celebrating the school culture, rewarding success, and giving students a chance to be themselves and work together to have fun and accomplish great things.
This year, Primary School ended the term on a positive, uplifting note, with a focus on school spirit and Soong Ching Ling School pride. A huge thanks to all the teachers who helped organize our first ever Spirit Week!
Our Spirit Week was an entire week of celebrations, games, productive classroom projects, and more celebrations. Each day had a theme, like “crazy hair day”, “twin day” and “color day”. In the middle of the week we had a fun assembly where students performed musical selections, PRIDE awards were given out, games were played, and students reflected on their accomplishments over the last 10 months.
Our students had a great year, and this was a wonderful way to keep that positive energy going into the Summer. Thanks for all your hard work this year, and we can’t wait to do it all again next time!
