Students are provided with an array of enrichment opportunities overseen by coaches, teachers and experts from the community.
This enrichment after school lesson is for students in grades 2 and 3. Students may register for this class and are offered a chance to meet after school with a small group of like-minded and similar English ability students in a 1-hour session of oral talking in English. The program includes interviews, plays, games and more but not written work, homework, worksheet, power points. It is for only speaking.
Through careful identification, the FAST Track students meet during the school day to received extended academic enrichment teaching. FT students are creative, responsible, independent, and collaborative and often think outside the box. Classes are project based and may cover topics, which draw out problem solving, innovation, and alternative views. Generally these classes are active and engaging. Upon completion students must present a project in an assembly, meeting, hallway display or skit.
Treasure Chest provides accelerated reading in books for carefully selected students in grade one. Meeting twice a week these students deepen their joy and excitement for reading through high reading ability, age appropriate topics chapter books. The novels are supported with weekly art projects depleting a part of the book. Working with a grade 1 teacher and the art teacher this early start to advanced reading allows small children to flourish with age level enrichment.
